The qualifying stages for the FIFAWorldCup 2010 are over. The competition is set to take place in less than a year. Now seems like a good time to take stock of which teams might falter and which may perform well. Ultimately, let's consider who will actually win the ultimate trophy of all trophies, the FIFAWorldCup.

A major factor in who are most likely to become FIFAWorldCup Champions is where the competition would be held. The great continenet of Africa will host its first World Cup competition in 2010. It has been suggested that exhaustion from travel could be a factor for teams from Europe and the Americas, while African teams could benefit from playing on their home soil.

However, when the competition was held for the first time in Asia in 2002, some people said the same. Yet European and South American teams remained in command for that particular event. The African teams have shown great promise and are now considered serious contenders in football along with the two primary continents, but it would be a surprise if an African team went as far as to the final, let alone actually winning it.

The most likely finalists are expected to be Spain and Brazil. Aside from a poor performance in the Confederations Cup recently, Spain, the team that won Euro 2008 so convincingly, is looking most likely to eventually lift the Cup. Their errors in the Confederations Cup may actually prove to help educate them on what they need to avoid in the 2010 competition.

Moving past a rocky start when Dunga first commanded the team, Brazil now looks to be the other main team to beat. They sent a strong message with their win recently over Argentina and look to be ready to take on the 2010 FIFAWorldCup. Brazil's capacity to combine pure talent with contemporary organization, seems to be a winning combination for them.

There are also a few other notables who are worth noting who also mostly come from the commanding continents. Joining Spain and Brazil, England, Italy and Holland are expected to be among the main countries in the list of finalists. Unlike Spain and Brazil however, these three have lacked consistency and power over this past year which will be a concern.

Many believe that Brazil are the favorites to win the 2010 FIFAWorldCup. Their ability to turn out top notch football talent, along with the form that they have exhibited recently make them a force to be reckoned with. Brazil could very well seal their date with destiny if Dunga is able to keep his team inspired and maintain their current form.
